BURGERS

I felt like a filling meal so I decided to make some burger patties. I found a recipe for protein burgers and thought I would give it a shot. I made the mixture then laid the patties on baking paper which I have cut to fit my dehydrator trays. After 2 hours of dehydrating, I turned the patties over onto the tray and peeled off the baking paper. I then left them to dehydrate over night about 12 hours. Instead of eating them like a burger I put magic mint sauce a big slab of cucumber and tomato on top. They had shrunk a lot in the dehydrator and were more like bickies. The flavor was fine but they were incredibly salty I will have to adjust the recipe. I had to have a chaser of just cucumber to alleviate the saltiness.

SOMETIMES A GIRL NEEDS CHOCOLATE

When I am craving chocolate I start the day with a Choco Smoothie. In this one I put banana, kiwi fruit, almond milk and raw cacao powder. "DELICIOUS"

CHOCOLATE BROWNIES TO THE RESCUE

Tonights dinner was a big fat kitchen disaster. It started off alright as I laid my salad on the plate piece by piece. Then, just when it was turning out picture perfect I got distracted by my noisy family and changed around the centre piece in great haste. I ended up with sauce smeared every where and a ratty looking butter lettuce heart plonked in the middle like a fallen down petticoat. So I skipped the pic and just ate. Yuk! it didn't even taste good the butter lettuce was more like bitter lettuce. Oh yeah I had also totally messed up my pink pate sauce making it badly from memory.
Hence the pic of the chocolate brownie. Ahhhh chocolate!

LAZY SALAD

Ok, so when I made this salad I was actually very tired and said to my self that I wasn't going to do anything fancy. I wasn't even going to photograph it... But once I started, I couldn't stop myself it was almost involuntary to make an artwork. So I set to it like Edward scissor hands and here it is.

SALAD, SALAD, SALAD

DINNER TIME

I made this delicious waldorf salad. I just put apple and walnuts inside lettuce leave. Did you know that if you squeeze lemon on apple it tastes like lemonade. And don't forget the "Magic sauce" (cashew sour cream.) you can add sultanas to this one but I like it without.

BIG SALAD

A yummy lunch is a big greek style salad + mushrooms with cashew sour cream which I like to call "MAGIC SAUCE" because it's soooo yummy!

AND NOW FOR BREAKFAST

Mmmmm! But I could have added a bit more ice for that frappé style... Maybe next time.

BACK ON THE WAGON

So about two months before Christmas I decided to learn the art of Raw gourmet or rawme food preparation. So I started making recipes but I was still eating cooked food so there was no pressure of relying on my dodgy preparation skills. I started having smoothies for breakfast and adding more salads here and there. I felt better when I had two or more raw meals a day then I would eat all cooked food and feel rotten. So I decided to go 100% raw on the 1st Jan 2012. I wrote up a contract for myself and made a pact that I would eat raw and exercise and I signed it. Over Christmas I pigged out knowing the change was near and it made me more keen because I didn't feel good on that food. So now I'm going to share with you the culinary delights that I am living on. Feast your eyes and enjoy.

YUMMY

After six months of eating badly and six kg heavier I realized that trying to eat everything in moderation just wasn't working for me. I was always bloated my clothes were tight and my back was always achy,I just had to change something. I decided I couldn't make any changes by myself, I needed support and encouragement. So I prayed and asked for help because I was lost.

The next week I went to my local health food store and the girls were all exited because they had started eating raw food. I said I wasn't going to try it again but the girls there are very encouraging and I realized they could be the support I needed.

MY FIRST RAW EXPERIENCE

For about three or four years now I've been hearing alot about a raw food lifestyle where people don't cook any food over 45 deg Celsius. At first this sounded quite extreme but as I researched I found the idea of living directly off the land quite enticing. Through further investigation I found that there is a parallel universe of gourme food. Raw gourme food which I like to call rawme.

Easter 2011 I decided to start this raw food lifestyle but the recipe book I had wasn't working for me, all the recipes were too rich full of onion garlic and nuts. This was a big setback for me. So I went and saw a professional raw health expert at Uttley raw. She helped me to simplify my meal plans and added some super foods like macca, bee polen and kelp noodles.
As I continued through the month I found my self getting very light headed to the point I felt like my head was detached from my body. On the flipside my body was feeling stronger, my muscles felt like they had electricity running through them and wanted to exercise. Although my body was feeling so good I felt like I could not carry on day to day with my head in the clouds. So I ended up going back to my old way of eating everything and anything that was in front of me.
